Vinous Media 2020 Winemaker of the Year
Tony Biagi, Consulting Winemaker for Jada Vineyard & Winery, has been named 2020 Winemaker of the Year (Napa Valley) by Antonio Galloni, founder of Vinous Media – one of the world’s most trusted and respected wine publications.
Jada Consulting Winemaker, Anthony Biagi, was just named 2020 Winemaker of the Year by Antonio Galloni of Vinous Media. Tony Biagi, Consulting Winemaker for Jada Vineyard & Winery, has been named 2020 Winemaker of the Year (Napa Valley) by Antonio Galloni, founder of Vinous Media – one of the world’s most trusted and respected wine publications. Biagi joined the Jada team in 2017 and has been consulting with our head winemaker, Joshua Harp, and Assistant Winemaker, Nate Hall, ever since.
Biagi has built his career consulting at some of the top wineries in Napa and Sonoma and is a co-owner in Hourglass and Patria wines. His clients have included Clos du Val, Sinegal, Amici, Lasseter, and The Vineyardist.
“Tony Biagi is not only gifted as a winemaker, he also has a talent for mentoring young, emerging winemakers,” notes Galloni. We could not agree more. Joshua Harp, our head Winemaker, along with the help of Anthony (aka ‘Tony”) and Nate, has just produced three of our top-rated vintages in a row, including 97 points for our 2018 WCS Syrah.
Jada was founded in 2005 by Dr. Jack Messina and the Messina Family as part of the first wave of pioneering new winegrowers to develop and garner acclaim for Paso Robles and the Central Coast with land purchased & planted (to vineyards) in the late 90s and early 2000s. In 2007, we opened our Tasting Room and Scott Hawley, now owner and winemaker of Torrin Vineyard, made the first 5 vintages of the Jada wines through 2010.
The rest as they say is history. Our estate vineyard in the Willow Creek District of Paso Robles proved to be one of the premier sites in Paso Roble for premium Rhones and Bordeaux varieties, particularly Syrah, Cabernet, and Petit Verdot as well as unique “heirloom varieties” like Graciano and Tannat.
“We cannot think of a more fun-loving, passionate, and, of course, talented winemaker to receive this distinction. He’s been a great and important addition [since 2017] to our winemaking team headed by Joshua Harp and one of the many reasons we are so excited by our current and upcoming releases of the Jada wines . . . He also happens to be one of the best advocates out there for the quality of the wines from Paso Robles.” says CFO & GM, Joshua Messina.
Cheers to “Tony” and this great news to start 2021!
