#37 – 2018 Passing By Cabernet Sauvignon

This was the highest “ranked” Central Coast Wine in Jeb Dunnuck’s Top 100 List of 2021.

2021 was the culmination of an enterprise begun 23 years ago, when founder, Dr. Jack Messina, planted our first acreage – 20 acres of Bordeauxs – before planting an additional 35 acres of Rhones, Cabernet Sauvignon, and even some Tannat.

We ended 2021 with a host of 95, 96, and 97 point wines from our 2019 vintage and made no less than 3 top wine lists for 2021:

  • 2018 Passing By Cabernet Sauvignon – Jeb Dunnuck’s Top 100 Wines of 2021
  • 2018 Strayts – RH Drexel’s Top 25 Wines of 2021
  • 2018 Jersey Girl – MJ Trowler’s Top 30 Bottles of 2021

We could not be more proud of the entire Jada team who made all this happen and especially our winemaking team of Joshua Harp, Tony Biagi, & Nate Hall.

“Winemaker Joshua Harp, along with top Napa consultant Tony Biagi, continues to go from strength to strength and it seems as if every vintage is the finest to date. The 2018s reviewed for this report are brilliant (I reviewed some 2018s last year as well) and the 2019s might be a step up. No shrinking violets, these are big, rich wines, yet the balance is spot on, the wines show remarkable purity of fruit, and I’d certainly be happy to drink any of them.”
