SPRING 2022
2019 Passing By
96+ pts
“A blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petit Verdot and 1% Petite Sirah, the 2019 Passing By has a medium ruby-purple color and lush aromas of blackcurrants, aniseed, pepper and coffee with touches of rose-petal perfume. The full-bodied palate explodes with savory cassis supported by silty tannins and bursts of freshness that elevate the very long, floral finish.” – Erin Brooks, March 2022
2019 WCS Cabernet Sauvignon
96+ pts
“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is a beautiful wine that blends classic accents with rich California fruit. Aromas of Morello cherries mingle with touches of chocolate, tobacco, dried thyme and lavender. The full-bodied palate is seamless and grainy with bursts of floral perfume and youthful tones of new oak, and it finishes very long with tremendous lift and perfume.” – Erin Brooks, March 2022
2019 Strayts
96 pts
“The 2019 Strayts, matured in 34% new oak, is made with Merlot (85%) and blended with some Petite Sirah (11%) and Petit Verdot (4%). “I’ve been pulling back on the new oak for the Merlot,” says winemaker Joshua Harp. “I’m trying to make the best Merlot in Paso.” Harp has crafted an alluring example this vintage, inviting and hedonistic without going over the top. Medium ruby, it’s scented of Morello cherries, cured meats and graphite with tones of sweet spice, and the palate is just what you want from this grape: lush, chocolaty and satiny smooth with notable freshness and lift and a long, sweet cherry finish. It’s an elegant Merlot that drinks well now but should offer graceful development in bottle over the next decade.” – Erin Brooks, March 2022
2019 Hell’s Kitchen
95+ pts
“The 2019 Hell’s Kitchen is a blend of 55% Syrah, 17% Graciano, 16% Grenache and 12% Tannat—winemaker Joshua Harp notes the high proportion of Graciano and says it did very well this vintage. After some time in the glass, scents of cassis and candied blueberries give way to nuances of beef drippings, purple flowers and milk chocolate. The palate manages full fruit and juicy lift, with a grainy tannic frame and a finish laced with loads of floral perfume. This has more to give with another 2-3 years in bottle.” – Erin Brooks, March 2022
2019 SawBones
95+ pts
“The 2019 SawBones is a yummy blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Syrah, 7% Petit Verdot and 6% Graciano with a medium ruby color and alluring scents of melted chocolate, Morello cherries, aniseed, pipe tobacco, chargrill and sweet spices. The palate is smooth and juicy with layered, lifted, spicy fruits and a long finish with bursts of freshness.” – Erin Brooks, March 2022
